Lily is a Holistic and Trauma informed wellness coach, who prioritizes teaching practical skills for growing personal confidence and resilience that applies to everyday situations; both casual and severe. She has been training brazilian jiu jitsu since Dec of 2016 and is currently a purple belt who manages and coaches at the martial arts academy, Neutral Ground in Milwaukee, WI. At Neutral Ground she is the instructor for new students, the women’s jiu jitsu class and self defense class. Along with being the manager of SheWolf Women’s Boxing and Fitness gym in Milwaukee. She received her pink belt certification for Self Defense through the “Gracie Women’s Empowerment” program in March of 2021. Since then she has put herself through personal education in being Trauma informed, versed in the “art of communication” and reading body language, understanding attacker psychology, and knowing the legalities of self defense taught by lawyers and police officers.
Her training background in jiu jitsu (primary), muay thai, krav maga, and wrestling has continued to update the material she teaches when it comes to the physical means of self defense. All lessons around safety prioritize the structure of growing personal power in listening to one’s intuition and assessing personal needs, communicating boundaries and creating action plans to prevent safety situations , along with knowing the legalities of utilizing physical means of de-escalating altercations with another person. Her lessons provide techniques that improve how students demonstrate confidence in physical, mental and emotional areas that create daily practices to enhance awareness of not being “unsuspecting” ; which prevents many common safety situations. Along with creating personal safety plans for high tension casual situations and or emotional triggers to deal with current and past traumas. As well as how to handle extreme altercations when confronted by someone with ill intent. These lessons work at the personal pace of the students and are based on the foundation of making everyone feel comfortable with the content and providing a space for those that may be triggered by the themes of this type of work. It is her mission to help anyone grow in the areas that they are willing to work on and there are no expectations for participation; anyone of any background can observe or interact with the class.
